This notice covers this website and its waitlist. The Riprova app has its own app privacy notice and terms of use.
Who is responsible
Riprova is run by Jon Rottenbury, 25 Springbank Road, Birmingham B15 2HF, United Kingdom, who is the data controller for this site. Write to hello@ritornomusic.app about anything in this notice.
The name changed
This product was previously called Ritorno. Only the name has changed: the person responsible, what is collected and why are the same as they were. If you joined the waitlist under the old name, your address stays on it, and you can still leave from the link in any email we send.
What this site collects, why, and on what basis
Visiting the site. Visiting sets no cookies and runs no analytics or advertising. Like any website, the service that delivers the pages sees the IP address and request details of your visit. We use that only to deliver the site and to stop the waitlist form being used to send email by program. Our basis is legitimate interests (UK GDPR Article 6(1)(f)): running a website needs it and it is a small intrusion. You can object to it (see your rights below).
The bot check. The waitlist form includes a check that the request comes from a person and not a program. It is run by Cloudflare, which sees your IP address and some details of your browser to make its decision. The basis is the same: legitimate interests.
The waitlist. If you join, we keep your email address and the date you confirmed it. We ask for nothing else. The address is added only after you open the link we email to it and press the button there. If you never do, we keep no record of it; the company that sends the confirmation email keeps its own delivery log of that one message for a limited time (see "How long we keep it"). The purpose is to write to you once, when Riprova opens. Our basis is your consent (Article 6(1)(a)), which you give by confirming your address and can withdraw at any time, and which is also the consent the law requires before we send you marketing email. We do not use the list for anything else and do not share or sell it.
Who the waitlist is for
The waitlist is for people aged 18 or over. If you are under 18, please do not join it yourself. If we learn that an address belongs to someone under 18, we will remove it.
Who handles it for us
- Cloudflare delivers this site, runs the bot check and stores the waitlist. It processes data on a worldwide network, so data may be handled outside the United Kingdom. The transfer is covered by the standard contractual clauses and UK addendum in its data processing terms, or by the UK extension to the EU–US Data Privacy Framework.
- Resend sends the confirmation email and, later, the one email about opening. It processes data in the United States. The transfer is covered by the standard contractual clauses in its data processing terms and its certification to the EU–US Data Privacy Framework with the UK extension.
- Zoho hosts the mailbox, if you email us. We are still confirming where Zoho processes that mail and the safeguard that covers it; we will update this notice when we have.
These companies act on our instructions and may not use the data for their own purposes. Nobody else receives it, except where the law requires.
How long we keep it
- Waitlist: until we have sent the email saying Riprova is open, or until you leave the waitlist, whichever comes first. After that email is sent the list is deleted.
- Confirmation link: it stops working after 48 hours.
- Resend's delivery log: Resend states that it keeps email and log data for 30 days on its standard plans.
- Cloudflare's logs of visits and of the bot check: Cloudflare sets these periods itself and does not state one figure; its policy is at cloudflare.com/privacypolicy. We keep no analytics and no access log of our own.
- Emails to us: kept for as long as needed to answer you and to keep a record of any complaint or request (see the complaints page).
Cookies
This site sets no cookies and stores nothing on your device. The bot check on the waitlist form loads a script from Cloudflare when the form is shown.
Leaving the waitlist
Every email we send has a link that removes your address. You can also write to hello@ritornomusic.app and we will remove it.
Your rights
You can ask us to:
- tell you what we hold about you and give you a copy;
- correct anything that is wrong;
- delete it;
- restrict how we use it;
- give it to you in a form you can reuse (the waitlist address);
- stop using it where we rely on legitimate interests (you can object).
You can also withdraw your consent at any time, and that is as easy as joining was. Some of these rights apply only in certain cases. We reply within one month. Ask by email, or see the complaints and requests page.
Complaints
Tell us first if you can: see the complaints page, which says how and how quickly we reply. You can also complain at any time to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
